Puppies and Husbands

So in a little over a week, I’ve acquired a new husband and a new puppy. You already know what the husband looks like, so let’s get the puppy stuff out of the way, shall we?

This is Betty:

She's the newest addition to the House of Spice. She's an eight week old Havanese. She weighs 3.5 lbs. The picture is a bit blurry, because Betty is always doing that adorable puppy wriggle thing, and it's tough to catch her in a still moment.

She's cute, right?

Right.

We're nuts to bring a dog--no matter how small--into a 350 sq ft apartment, right?

Right.

But she's cute!

We are deep in puppy adjustment mode right now, and have already started obsessing over her bowel movements:

Did she poop?
Why won't she poop?
Maybe she needs a new wee-wee pad?
Yay! She pooped!

Yes, wee wee pad is now the most-used word in our vocabulary.

That’s all for now. Have a lovely Tuesday.

P.S.—I still feel very strange referring to spiceboy as my husband

Oh, she's CUTE!

There's a picture of my husband from our wedding (taken before we'd even said our vows) in which he just looks so sure of himself, so confident and yet contented. I look at that picture nad tell myself that if I can make him feel like that for the rest of his life, I'll have accomplished something.

Marriage is a good thing.

Ohhh my!!! that's one sweet little ball of fur. There is an adjustment period when you get a puppy, so don't get discouraged when you find the chewed up roll of toliet paper in the hallway, or a hole in your best comforter..he he...just sayin...

And my dog even did worse things, but she grew out of it, and we couldn't love her more.

that is one adorable pooch! Are you baby-training? ;) Right after a couple friend of mine got engaged they bought a cat - we all joked that it was a test run to make sure they could handle a kid.

Don't you just love that puppy dog breath? When the dog start's chewing on everything, and it will, be patient the puppy is teathing. A gentle swap and a "no, no" he'll quit. Good luck with the puppy, he is so precious! Keep us updated on the puppy drama.

Cute puppy! NYC is so dog friendly, it will be easy to take care of her even outside the teeny apartment.

oh my goodness! betty spice is the cutest ever. just think, this winter you can knit her little outfits for when you take her in the park. those other little dogs wearing prada will have nothing compared to betty spice and her hand-knit cowel neck sweater!

Wow. I've been back a week, read every last word, and studied your pictures, but still have not commented.

First, you and Spiceboy are exactly what I imagined you would be: Adorable. So cute, you two. Congratulations! I promised I would have a drink in your honor in Cuba. You'll be proud, ESG - I had a few, got drunk and spashed around in the ocean at about 2AM.

Second, that puppy is so cute, it kind of makes my teeth hurt. What a sweet little furball!

I love that puppy, he would taste just fine with a bernaise sauce and some syrah.

:-)

Good luck!

What a cute little thing. I understand the whole feeling of not being sure about having a dog in a small apartment. That's why I don't have one yet. Instead I have two cats. Go figure! Someday I plan to have a dog. They are just so wonderful to have around.
